Supercell gained revenue of $892 million in 2013, which most of it is earned by COC.
COC must be the mobile game which I spent longest time on. I think it’s the best mobile game so far in aspect of game mechanism, arts, etc.
It has its own special and fun style which can be accepted by most of players. And all the details are took care of, in every level of upgrade, the building/character looks a little bit different. And a skilled player can diff from all the levels. The map can be designed by player, into a very complicated one. Meanwhile all the buildings are not block the buildings/traps behind.
It’s basically earn – upgrade – earn.
There are two ways to earn the gold/elixir/dark elixir, by attacking other players(can earn more) or by collecting them. Different players can find different ways to level up.
Players also need to arrange the defense cleverly to protect the resource or point or both.
Without a clever business model, it won’t earn that much money. Its in-app purchase does not annoy the players who do not want to pay.
With gems, players can speed up the building process, give base a period of protection or buy some gold/elixir (a certain part of all the storage limit instead of 100 gold/$1).
Players can also earn gems by removing obstacles, that will give player random amount of gems. The more frequently player remove the obstacles, the more obstacles will grow.
Real Clash of Clans
It’s a new game mode where two clans can really fight against each other. That brings honor into the game and make clans kick out those inactive players.
